CASTAS@PORTAL RESTAURANT

September saw Castas host a Portuguese evening at Portal restaurant, London. The theme was Food and Wine pairing; Portal provided the venue and food and Castas brought along the wine. A 4-course menu of modern Portuguese cuisine was sublimely paired with wines that not only completed the food but also provided a great insight to how to drink and appreciate Portuguese wines.

The evening started with a glass of Blaudus espumante and canapés before the guests were seated for the main event. A strong turnout of 20 enjoyed a menu of goat’s cheese and sorrel salad with pumpkin, red mullet or duck breast finished with warm ‘pastel de nata’  a rich custard filled tart. Certainly a favourite amongst guests. Wines included a white from Alvaro Castro Quinta de Saes estate and the new Palpite wine from Fita Preta. Reds included a big Douro from Casa Amarela and a blend from Vale d’Algares. Finished with cheese and a muscatel.
