Grapes

Portugal is home to over 200 indigenous grape varieties, possibly more than any other country, which lends to the vast flavours and individuality of Portuguese wines. Having so many can confuse even the most knowledgeable of wine enthusiasts especially by the occasional use of the same name in different regions for quite different grapes, so we’ve provided a simple guide to understanding the local talent. Building confidence is important, so we have started off with 5 key varieties. Each month, 2 new varieties will be added.
