Early-ripening Dão grape, but now planted widely throughout the country. Alfrocheiro has good colour, rich tannin, a good balance of strawberry-like fruit and acidity and spice-like aromas. This grape is increasingly viewed as one of Portugal’s high-quality red grapes.
