

Aragonez is as it’s known in the Alentejo region is gaining popularity year on year. In Douro, few can argue its quality, where it is one of the five recommended varieties for port but now it has really come to prominence as the principal grape of several top Douro red wines. A highly regarded variety, rich in tannins that produces fruity (redcurrant, cherry, raspberry), dark and aromatic wines. It responds well to aging in oak and produces good yields.
Also known as Tinta Roriz in Dão and Douro regions and Tempranillo of Spain.
