Fernão Pires
Fernão Pires is the most commonly planted white wine grape from Beiras down to the Setúbal Peninsula. A very versatile white grape used for everything from sparkling wines in Bairrada to crisp, aromatic whites in Ribatejo and the Setúbal Peninsula. Characterised by floral aromas, apple and citrus notes and moderate acidity. Lack of acidity, the wines can become cloying.

Known as Maria Gomes in Bairrada.
