Aragonez
Recently seen as one of Portugal’s very best, Trincadeira is a popular grape variety for adding colour, body and structure to wines in the Alentejo and the Ribatejo. It offers plums on the palate, but also hints of pepper and herbs and becoming jammy with age. It is also thought to be the perfect partner for Castelão. It has to be treated with care in the Alentejo as the intense heat can shrivel the grape. Possibly the same as the Douro’s Tinta Amarela.
