This is what the French call a teninturier grape, one with red flesh, therefore red juice. As Vinhão, it’s the main grape of red Vinho Verde. As Sousão, it is increasingly popular to beef up the colour of red wines in the Douro. Musk are richer in sugar with a vinous aroma from which wild fruits (blackberry and raspberry) stand out, with an equally vinous, full-bodied and slightly astringent flavour.
